A Message From Dr. DeSantis

The Ranch Orthodontics | Traditional Braces, Invisalign amp Spark Aligners and Early Treatment

As we reach the end of 2025 and look forward to 2026, I wanted to touch base with all of the patients and colleagues in Steiner and the surrounding communities. For the last several years I've been looking for help running the day-to-day operations and patient care in practice. As the practice grew it became more and more obvious that I could not see all the patients and run it myself.

Additionally, I have children in middle and high school, and I've been hoping to get more time with them as they continue grow up much too quickly! The realization that their time with us at home is short was made glaringly obvious to me this summer when my daughter was evacuated from Camp Mystic during the tragedy that took the lives of 27 of her co-campers and counselors. Having almost lost our son to cancer 15 years prior, it felt like the universe was sending a message that it was time to slow down.

I've had several doctors working with me over the years and really struggled to find the right fit. That was, until I met the Drs. Tomblyn. We had similar backgrounds and similar philosophies relating to treatment of patients and treatment of people in general. More so than any of the doctors I had worked with in the past, including ones that had worked in the practice for several years. We even shared the same networking and tech specialist and several past and current employees.

At the end of our lease in the Steiner location and looking for a partner, it just made sense for me to join the Tomblyns and combine the practices into the larger location. We started the conversations about combining the offices this summer and with the exception of some minor issues created by the software and database conversion, things have gone tremendously well and treating patients side by side with Dr. Tomblyn has been a true joy.

I got together with Dr. Tomblyn over break to discuss office items and the upcoming schedule and frankly, how well the transition was coming along. My ultimate goal was to insure quality care for the patients and to get more time with my family. Having worked with Dr. Tomblyn chairside and having spent hours and hours conversing outside the practice, I feel both happy to have enhanced our professional relationship, but also confident that the practice and the patients are in good hands. Knowing that my other goal was to increase my family and personal time, Dr. Tomblyn kindly offered to help me with this. As such, the Tomblyns will be taking over all day-to-day operations starting January 1, 2026.

I will help cover vacations for the Tomblyns as needed and will continue to act in a consulting fashion behind the scenes. Dr T and I currently speak most days and I will continue to do digital work behind the scenes as needed as well.

It has truly been a pleasure to watch so many of the Steiner families grow over the last twelve years, and it has been a great honor to have been entrusted with caring for you all. I appreciate all of you and the relationships that we've made.

Many thanks, again.

With gratitude,

Dr. Gerard DeSantis
